Spend a Semester in Oxford

In partnership with Scholarship and Christianity in Oxford (SCIO), this semester gives students a chance to do world-class research in British literature. 

Class Organization:

  • I. The Tutorial: Heart of the program; Research a question independently and then meet with your tutor to discuss and defend your position. Afterwards you are given a new quesstion to pursue until the next tutorial.
  • II. Research Project: Students choose a research project and work on it throughout the semester, augmented by advise from professors and peers.
  • III. Selected Topics in British Lit:.Choose from a list of 12 topics in British literature to
    focus on throughout the semester. Students will take several field trips together, irrespective of their topics, to notable sites around Oxford.

What to Expect

Spend your days in the Bodliean libary doing research for your tutorial. During Mid-term break, travel around England and experience the rich history of Oxford and its surroundings.

For housing, students will live in 'The Vines,' a Victorian residence hall about 35 minutes from the city center. Includes kitchen, laundry, 1.5 acre yard, bedroom, and bathroom for every 2-3 bedrooms.
