The Contemporary Music Center (CMC) in Nashville is a semester-long, 16 credit off-campus study program where students live, learn, and create in the heart of the music industry.

Academic Emphasis

Compatible majors: Music, Film, Media Arts, Business. The program is focused on gaining real world skills and experiences that transfer into a valuable career.

16 Credits - choose from four tracks:

  • Artist Track – original music writing and performance
  • Business Track – management, marketing, and promotion
  • Worship Track – creative team for the shows
  • Technical Track – tech/production support during show

What to Expect

  • CMC Live is a weekly show that students in the CMC program produce. All tracks work together to create a hands-on learning experience.
  • The Road Tour: At the end of the program, students take the skills they learned over the semester and produce a student-run worship tour as a cohort. This is the "final exam" for the program. CMC is the only program in the United States to offer this experience.
  • Students will live in apartments across the street from the Studio, shared with 3-6 roomates. The apartments are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms.
