Study Biology in Hawaii

Taylor Biology majors, Environmental Science majors, and other students seeking to earn a biology Foundational Core credit can travel to Hawaii for an intensive three-week Tropical Biology class. 

Students get real-life exposure to tropical biology and Hawaiian culture. Past activities have included:

  • Traveling to different locations on the Big Island of Hawaii and Maui
  • Snorkeling
  • Visiting the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden
  • Attending a cultural festival in partnership with a local church
  • Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity to rebuild homes for people whose homes were lost in wildfires

*This includes roundtrip air travel, tuition, housing, and food, admission fees for all class-related activities, and program-related travel.

Emphasis Biology - open to all majors. This trip fulfills the requirements for BIO263 or BIUO 363.

    What I enjoyed most from my trip to Hawaii was exploring God’s beautiful creation. Through hiking in the forest, snorkeling in the water, and gazing upon an erupting volcano, I was reminded again and again of God’s great power and creativity.
