Residence Hall Occupancy Academic Calendar

Taylor University’s academic year consists of fall and spring semesters and optional January interterm and summer sessions. 

  • Fall semester activities including exams are concluded prior to Christmas break. Classes last 15 weeks and conclude with a 4-day final exam week.  
  • The optional tuition-free January interterm offers an intensive period of study in a single course or opportunities to study off-campus in the United States and international locations.
  • Spring semester classes last 15 weeks and conclude with a 4-day final exam week prior to Commencement.
  • Four summer sessions are available to enhance and supplement students’ educational programs and to meet special program requirements.

Calendar for Residence Hall Occupancy

Occupancy is currently set to be based on the calendar listed below. However, these dates are subject to change in the University’s sole discretion. Those arriving early or not departing by the specified time may be subject to a hall fine.

  • The halls open for new students Friday, August 22, 2025, at 8 am.
  • The halls open for returning students Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10 am.

The halls will be closed: 

  • Thanksgiving Break—Wednesday, November 25, 2026, at 10 am until Sunday, November 29, 2026, at 1 pm.
  • Christmas Break—Christmas Vacation: Friday, December 18, 2026, at 10 am until Sunday, January 3, 2027, at 1 pm.
  • Spring Break—Spring Vacation: Saturday, March 20, 2027, at 10 am until Sunday, March 28, 2027, at 1 pm. Classes start at 5 pm on Monday, March 29, 2027, due to Easter Sunday.
  • Summer Break—Summer Vacation: Friday, May 21, 2027, at 5 pm for non-graduating students
  • Summer Break—Summer Vacation for Graduating Seniors: Saturday, May 22, 2027, at 4 pm for seniors/those working graduation.
Interterm (J-term) housing is provided only for students who are registered for class on campus. Halls open on February 1, 2026, at 1 pm for students not registered for J-term.
