When I graduated high school in 2014, I initially went to college to major in Social Work. After a year of schooling, I decided to change my major to Behavioral Sciences. I was told doing this would give me more options when choosing a career post graduation. Growing up, I always knew I wanted to work with children, but I just wasn't certain how. Fast forward to 2020, I had a conversation with a friend of mine who has taught for several years. This sparked my interest, and I instantly felt that this was something I wanted to do. I didn't want to make a decision too soon so I became a paraprofessional at a middle school in the fall of 2021. Within a month of being in a school environment, I knew that this was my calling. In November of 2021, I began the Transition to Teaching program at Taylor University. I had a huge goal in mind and wanted to accomplish it, so I finished all of my required courses at Taylor in just 13 months!
One of my most valuable experiences at Taylor University was the personable relationships that I formed with my professors. They were down-to-earth and always willing to help.
My interactions with my Taylor professors impacted my growth in a positive way. When meeting one of my professors in person during my formal observations, she instantly made me feel comfortable. She provided me with wonderful feedback and guided me during my student teaching hours.
I want to encourage Taylor students to strive to do their best, and let God have control of all of their uncertainties.
