Taylor University Associate Professor of English Dr. Mary N. Muchiri and her husband, Dr. Humphrey W. Muciiri, will host two book signings to promote her newest book You Have Been Chosen: The Identity of an Adopted Child.
The first is Tuesday, November 29, from 2 to 4 pm in the Taylor University Campus Store, located in the former student union (dome). The couple will host a second book signing at the Upland's Barton Rees Pogue Memorial Library on Saturday, December 10, from 10 am to 1 pm.
In addition to You Have Been Chosen, the couple’s books include:
- His Banner Over Me Is Love: The Dreams of an African Woman
- Papers on Language and Culture: An African Perspective
- The Power of Story: Global Myths on the Origins and Character of Black People
- Saved Through Fire: A Family Experiences Kenya’s War of Independence
Muchiri, who joined Taylor’s faculty in 2001, holds several degrees that include a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Linguistics (Lancaster University, United Kingdom), Master of Education (University of Manchester, United Kingdom), and a Bachelor of Arts (University of Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya).
Since joining the Taylor faculty, Muchiri has taught courses that include Expository Writing, World Literature, Language and Culture (TESOL), and Second Language Acquisition (TESOL). She has also taught Business and Technical Writing and the English Senior Project course.
Past teaching and administrative experience includes service as a faculty member and administrator at Daystar University and Kenyatta University, both in Nairobi, Kenya. She was also a faculty member at the University of Nairobi and Nairobi Girls’ Secondary School (now Moi Girls’).
