Hands-on Ministry Experience

You don’t have to put ministry on hold to complete this program; our students have the opportunity to immersively engage in ministry while studying it. Each resident will serve in a specific ministry area based on experience, passion, and their desired future role in ministry. You’ll gain immersive experience in a two-year ministry placement as you serve 20–40 hours per week in a role that best aligns with your particular calling.

Personal Mentorship

As a resident, you will serve alongside experienced church leaders who will support you at every turn. While the mentors from your residency provide expert instruction on creating a healthy, dynamic church environment, credentialed Taylor faculty will equip you mentally for the work you are already doing.

Leadership Training

Our master’s curriculum focuses on spiritual formation, understanding Scripture and theology, analyzing cultural and community dynamics, and equipping those you serve to extend God’s kingdom. Throughout your residency, you will develop a biblically-based philosophy of ministry and learn to think strategically as you prepare for your future as a ministry leader.

Degree Requirements + Curriculum

The Taylor University Master of Arts in Ministry (MAM) program is designed for ministry practitioners to learn the fundamentals of ministry, stir their imaginations for ministry application in an expanding cultural horizon, and help them find their place in the future of the church.

The Master of Arts in Ministry degree is not a Bible, Hebrew/Greek, or theology degree. It is a degree grounded in hands-on ministry development, where students can explore the field of ministry and find their vocation or calling in the process.

MAM courses are eight weeks long, each consisting of an in-person seminar once a week, taught by Taylor University faculty at various sites in the greater Indianapolis and Fort Wayne area. Within each 16-week semester, students study a variety of information in conjunction with their Residency positions, which also counts as credits toward their master’s degree. Practicum credit can apply for current ministry work toward the degree.

Students in the program must have access to a personal computer or mobile device capable of word processing and internet access. View tuition and funding details for additional questions.
