The Taylor Equestrian Team has competed in IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) hunt seat shows for more than 40 years. In 2024, Taylor University expanded its equestrian program with the addition of a Western division, giving students the opportunity to compete in both hunt seat, an English style of riding, and Western horsemanship.
Taylor riders of all levels—male and female—share a love for horses and a desire to grow in their knowledge, skills, and confidence as riders. We strive to glorify God through our riding and to exemplify Jesus Christ in our words, attitudes, work ethic, and relationships with others. The team is open to all full-time Taylor University students, regardless of riding ability or horse ownership.
Taylor’s hunt seat division is coached by Paige Pierce of Pierce Point. Paige brings extensive experience in the hunter/jumper discipline, along with a passion for developing riders at every level. She owns Pierce Point, a hunter/jumper training and boarding facility in Daleville, Indiana, and is a USHJA Certified Trainer. Paige is committed to helping riders develop both their technical skills and their confidence in the saddle.
Taylor’s Western division is coached by Jenny Norton Schamber of Rope This Ranch. With more than 30 years of experience, Jenny brings a deep commitment to and love for both horses and riders to her coaching and leadership. The Western division began in 2024 as a new opportunity for Taylor students and has continued to grow and develop as an important part of Taylor’s Equestrian program. Under Jenny’s leadership, the division is becoming an increasingly visible and valued part of the team.
While Taylor’s Equestrian Team includes two divisions, two coaches, and two home barns, we are one Taylor Equestrian Team. Together, our riders share a passion for horses, a commitment to excellence, and a desire to honor Christ through the way we ride, compete, serve, and encourage one another.
The team covers the cost of show transportation, food, and lodging.
