Taylor Certificate in Homiletics

Deep Study. Thoughtful Practice. Renewed Preaching.

Pastors or preachers-in-training are invited to join Rev. Dr. Tim McConnell, PhD, for a four-month cohort to sharpen your skills and reinvigorate your passion to bring the Word of God to your congregation. Dr. McConnell is the Director of the PREACH Initiative and serves as the Lead Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs.

Together this cohort will meet online for bi-weekly sessions with Dr. McConnell, discussing approaches to both classical and modern preaching. The cohort will discuss a few major works on preaching, approaches to preparation and delivery, and watch one another’s sermons for mutual review and encouragement.

The cohort culminates in a visit to Taylor University where you will meet the President, Dr. Michael Lindsay and the Vice President for Spiritual Life, Rev. Greg Dyson. A day in the PREACH Lab, attending Chapel and receiving a final Certificate will inspire and encourage the continued work of proclaiming the Gospel week by week.
