Read everything. Read broadly. Read deeply. Read closely.
I am a writer who loves to teach writing and help other writers develop their skills here at Taylor. I’m also committed to making Taylor University’s Writing Center first-rate and thus regularly participate in writing center conferences, where I both learn from professionals across the world and present papers about the many innovative approaches I’ve developed. I’ve likewise published work in the peer-reviewed, widely circulated publication, WLN: A Journal of Writing Center Scholarship. I bring all this experience and expertise to the writing center here, and I enjoy working with the many students, faculty, and staff who visit. Working with my writing center tutors and my colleagues here at Taylor is honestly the best job in the world.
I am the author of several literary poetry books: Particular Scandals, published in The Poiema Poetry Series by Cascade Books; Slipping Out of Bloom (WordTech Press); the chapbook Election Day (Finishing Line Press), and Full Worm Moon from Cascade Books. I have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize twice and the Best of the Net anthology; my poetry has been featured on both Poetry Daily and Verse Daily. My poems have appeared in more than a hundred publications, such as Alaska Quarterly Review, The Christian Century, Christianity and Literature, Cimarron Review, Image, Nimrod International Journal, Prairie Schooner, The Southern Review, and Taylor’s own Relief Journal. In addition, my poems have been included in numerous anthologies, such as The Turning Aside: The Kingdom Poets Book of Contemporary Christian Poetry (Wipf & Stock), Becoming: What Makes a Woman (University of Nebraska Gender Programs), and Every River on Earth: Writing from Appalachian Ohio (Ohio University Press).
