Biography

I graduated Taylor University in 1989, where I met my best friend Lisa, who is now my wife of 31 years (Program Assistant in AEC). We have three amazing children, Megan '17, Adrienne '18, Brendan '20. I am so blessed by an amazing family who daily remind me of God's love! Taylor University has meant so much to my family in so many ways. Aside from the impact on my immediate family, both my parents (now deceased) retired from Taylor University after more than 20 years of service, and I have quite the TU family connection. All three of my older sisters graduated from TU, along with two sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law, five nieces, and three nephews, all who called TU their home! So you could say, we are a TU family!

After graduation and marriage to Lisa, we moved to metro Detroit where I went to the police academy and began my career in law enforcement. I continued there until July 2003, when God called me back to TU. At that time, I was an active detective in violent crimes investigating violent crimes against persons up to and including homicide, when God tapped me on the shoulder. I didn't know what for, why, when, or even exactly where God was leading me, but through much prayer, Lisa and I made the decision to move back to Upland. I took an early retirement and out of that huge leap of faith we returned to TU to follow His calling for our lives--and we have never once regretted that decision or failed to see His amazing plans for us! To this day, we are thankful for God opening doors (actually, more like kicking them off the hinges!) paving the way for us to come back. This place is home and we are incredibly blessed!

Why do I love being at TU working and teaching? That's the easiest answer of all--the students! I just love them! They are constantly blowing me away with their care, intentionality, desire to serve, and ability to love others so well. They inspire, encourage, and constantly point me back to Jesus. I pray that I am at least part of that same experience for them as we do life together on our little campus! It doesn't matter the questions and concerns we have to deal with in this life, the hard decisions we have to make, or the hurdles and challenges we have to overcome...Jesus is always the ONLY answer! Jesus is the ONLY name!
