Biography

I have taught English around the world, including in Brazil, Indonesia and Kenya. The teaching of English can provide so many opportunities for building relationships with others! I love my current role of helping to equip young people for service to God and others through the many open doors that TESOL can provide.

I coordinate all TESOL programs, including TESOL Certificate, TESOL Minor, and ENL/ESL Licensure for K-12 education; teach and supervise TESOL courses.

My advice to freshmen is to consider adding the short, 4-course TESOL Certificate to whatever else you are studying! If you want to engage at all with other people groups, either at home or abroad, this certificate will help equip you to do that. I welcome in person and virtual chats with anyone considering TESOL!

In addition to my work at Taylor, I am involved in these ministries:

  • helping churches develop ESL programs for immigrants
  • helping mission organizations develop effective TESOL ministries
  • helping missionaries and their organizations develop effective systems for learning new languages
