Dr. Wetzel's studies include the intersection of American religious, political, and intellectual history in the period from 1860 to 1920. His latest book, a study of American Christian commentary on the Civil War, Spanish-American War, and World War I, was published by Cornell University Press in 2022. He is currently working on a book tentatively titled Door of Hope: Theodore Roosevelt and the Black Freedom Struggle.

I enjoy teaching at Taylor because of the opportunities to integrate faith and learning. I enjoy helping students think “Christianly” about American history, especially the role that religious people have played in it.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and watching all kinds of sports.
