Why I Enjoy Teaching at Taylor
Dr. Wetzel enjoys teaching at Taylor because of the opportunities to integrate faith and learning. He enjoys helping students think “Christianly” about American history, especially the role that religious people have played in it.
Dr. Wetzel studies the intersection of American religious, political, and intellectual history in the period from 1860 to 1920. He is currently at work on two book projects. The first examines how America’s Christian communities debated the righteousness of the Civil War, Spanish-American War, and World War I. The second, under advance contract with Oxford University Press, is a religious biography of Theodore Roosevelt.
In his spare time, Dr. Wetzel enjoys sports and music.
