Day 27 in the Word: 1 Corinthians 8:1-3

About the passage

Paul moves into the thorny contemporary issue of the day regarding food that had been offered to idols. Because it was already "used," that food went to the discount market and was a cheap source of food, but some felt it was ethically wrong to eat it. What a dilemma! For some it was too good to pass up, for others it was too good to be true. What issue seems too cut and dry to you but not so cut and dry for others?

Day 27: 1 Corinthians 8:1-3

Now regarding your question about food that has been offered to idols. Yes, we know that “we all have knowledge” about this issue. But while knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church. Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn’t really know very much. But the person who loves God is the one whom God recognizes.
