Biography

After graduating from Taylor, my husband (Toby Magers) and I moved to Indianapolis. I started my first teaching job at Herron High School. This is my 8th year teaching Algebra 2, Honors Algebra ,and Pre-AP Pre-Calculus. We have two kids; Jeeah (5) and Gio (2).

What were some of your most valuable experiences at Taylor?

For me, it was how the Math and Education departments prepared me to be a math teacher. It was a very rigorous curriculum to follow. But looking back, every class I took taught me something valuable and useful in teaching (and even in parenting).

How did your classes or interactions with professors at Taylor impact your growth?

The interactions I had with professors at Taylor impacted the way I became an educator. They showed true care for who I am, not just as a student, but as an individual with their own stories. Some of the professors cared about us like we were their own children.

What advice or encouragement could you provide for Taylor students in your vocational discipline?

Take advantage of all the resources around you; great professors, a great community of learners, great student teaching opportunities including the ones that are abroad.
