I am a singer/actor/playwright based in Orlando, FL. I was raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. I attended Taylor University where I graduated in 2018 with a BA in Theatre Arts. I have been living on and off in Orlando for the past 5 years, and I feel privileged to have been able to work in the entertainment industry in Florida and beyond! I've worked for Disney entertainment, and have been cast in several local theatre productions in Central Florida. I was most recently an off-ice performer on the national tour of Disney on Ice Presents Celebrate Memories.
I feel that Taylor offered me a very comprehensive, rounded theatre education. I had the opportunity to learn not just about performing, but also about all the work that goes behind the scenes. Working on production staff was very formative for me, and gave me a whole new perspective of my craft.
The professors I had helped me focus my skills better and hone in on my strengths. I never knew I could be a dramatic actor until "When the Rain Stops Falling," and that show opened a world of possibilities for me. I wasn't confined to the "type" I imagined myself to be. I'm grateful that I was pushed in the right direction.
As actors we are meant to be well-rounded individuals so that we can bring true life to our roles. Having a liberal arts education helped me by expanding my general knowledge base, which gave me a wider perspective and varied experiences from which to draw.
Show up. You won't get cast if you don't show up and put yourself out there. Audition for absolutely everything—even if you don't think you'll be the right fit. Don't pre-cast yourself. Persevere. When you walk into the room, know that you have something to offer that everyone else does not. Have a teachable spirit and be willing to work. Most of all, remember why you love what you do. Remind yourself daily that the Lord gave you these gifts for a reason, and use them to celebrate His glory.
