I was a Film and Media Production major at Taylor. After graduation, I was hired at Oracle Cerner on their technical support events team and for the past 3+ years have taken a leadership position as a Manager on the Event Production team and an Executive Briefing Center support team.
I appreciated the faculty's practical way of teaching how to work in the industry and giving me access to some of the best production tools at the time. My education allowed me to push my skills and experiment before moving into the professional world. I am also grateful for Taylor's partnership with the Contemporary Music Center in Nashville and the ability to study at that program, learning about the music industry.
The faculty treated all the students like adults. They pushed me to try different things outside my comfort zone and also created an environment of collaboration. Production is very collaborative and creating that environment encouraged me to collaborate with my classmates and build critical relationships.
One of the key contributions to my growth was being encouraged to question and research to find the right answer. The foundational core also taught me to be collaborative with coworkers no matter their walk of life and to create an open community.
Never stop learning post school. There is so much to learn in this discipline and a lot of great people to learn from. Having an open mind and willingness to learn and collaborate will take you far.
