Become a thoughtful, skilled creator in a rapidly changing music industry.
The Music Production, Songwriting & Business (MPSB) major brings together three essential areas of modern music work: production, songwriting, and business. You’ll learn how to create compelling music, contribute meaningfully in the studio, understand the technology behind professional sound, and manage the practical realities of creative work, including client relationships, project timelines, marketing, and finances.
Tackle hands-on learning in a state-of-the-art recording and production environment. The recording studio is more than a facility: it's a lab where you’ll practice, experiment, collaborate, and grow.
You’ll graduate with real-world experience, a strong creative portfolio, and a deeper understanding of how your God-given gifts can be developed and offered with excellence.

A Taylor liberal arts education will prepare you to live and work in a fast-changing world. It also goes a step further: laying a strong spiritual foundation that cultivates wisdom. You’ll become a well-versed individual, equipped with critical thinking skills, a lifelong love of learning, and an appreciation for God’s creation.
Taylor developed the curriculum in consultation with experts and professionals with industry experience to ensure students are learning what they will actually need beyond college.
Whether stepping into a studio, leading a creative session, or releasing original work, students will understand how the pieces connect and how to contribute with confidence.
As a final project, you'll complete a major recording, then market and release an EP of five to ten songs. This project may include self-written songs, music you have recorded, or work you have produced for others.
Students may develop this project over an extended period, planning, refining, producing, marketing, and ultimately releasing the work. By graduation, you'll leave with portfolio pieces that demonstrate your ability as a creator, producer, collaborator, and music professional.
At Taylor, this degree is not only about craft development; from day one of your music classes, you'll see that it's just as much about spiritual formation. You'll be encouraged to see your creativity as a gift from God and to grow into your unique artistic voice, with the purpose of trusting the One who gave you your gifts.
Music, Theatre, and Dance Scholarships are awarded to talented high school seniors and transfer students who plan to pursue a future career in music, theatre, or dance. Awards vary based on each student’s ability, audition, and the needs of the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance.
To be considered, students must declare a major in the department, complete the scholarship application, and audition either in person or by video.
