To help meet the growing demand for well-trained classical school educators, Taylor University, the Society for Classical Learning, and ClassicalU have teamed up to offer a track of seven graduate courses that will qualify educators for SCL teacher certification.
This program is co-directed by Eric Cook, President of the Society for Classical Learning, and Joelle Hodge, President of Classical Academic Press. The curriculum makes extensive use of top video lecture content from the teacher training platform at ClassicalU.com.
The final practicum will pair students within schools accredited or endorsed by the Society of Classical Learning, providing valuable hands-on teaching experience.
We invite you to explore this teacher certification pathway for you and for your Christian classical schools.
Applications are accepted year-round. The Classical Teacher Certification is open term, so you can enroll any day. All courses are self-paced independent study.
There are two potential sources of financial aid. Both are student loans—Federal Direct Student Loan and Alternative Student Loan Program.
Federal Direct Loan requirements:
Features:
*Note: Courses outside the specific state requirements, even if recommended by Taylor (i.e. undergraduate prerequisite courses), cannot be considered when calculating the student’s Federal Direct Loan eligibility nor can they count toward the student’s half-time enrollment status.
Alternative Student Loan requirements:
Features:
You can choose your own start date if you pay out of pocket. You have 4 months to finish each class.
Classes are offered in the fall, spring, and summer for students using financial aid. Terms are 15 weeks long.
Once you complete the seven courses, you can apply to be certified through the Society for Classical Learning. The certificate is issued by the Society of Classical Learning, not Taylor University.
