Walden Media Head Micheal Flaherty is Featured Speaker at Taylor's Envision Film FestivalPublished: Jan 18, 2012
President and co-founder of Walden Media Micheal Flaherty will be one of three guests of honor at Taylor University’s Envision Film Festival, March 1-3, 2012. Flaherty’s company has produced and financed many films including The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe, Bridge to Terabithia, and Charlotte’s Web. The Wall Street Journal and Boston Globe have described Flaherty as an “entrepreneur in education” for his ability to bridge the gap between media and education.
Other guest speakers include filmmaking duo Greg and Emily Wilson. Greg is Director of Development and Casting with the legendary producer Garry Marshall at Henderson Production Co. in Los Angeles. Greg is a Taylor University alumnus. Greg’s wife Emily has worked at both 20th Century Fox Television and ABC Entertainment in comedy development and has also been a Feature Film Coordinator and Assistant VFX Coordinator. The two worked together on the romantic comedies Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve and have produced two award-winning short films that were selected for screening at more than 20 film festivals. One of the two films won Audience Choice at Indiana’s Heartland Film Festival in 2009.
The Envision film festival includes three days of film screenings, workshops and an awards ceremony. The festival honors Taylor University filmmakers and aspiring high school filmmakers whose visual storytelling explores the range of human experience with hopeful vision, artistry, truthfulness and integrity.
Additionally, submissions are accepted from high school students - entries must be postmarked January 31.
The Envision Film Festival workshops and screenings are open to the public.
