Special Events, Food, Athletics, Music Highlight 2012 Taylor Parents and Family Weekend

Published: Oct 03, 2012

Taylor University officials expect more than 500 families to visit campus this Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the 2012 Parents and Family Weekend. The event includes everything from athletic contests, concerts and food to a cardboard boat regatta and scavenger hunt. All are geared to allow the families to spend more time with their college-aged family members.

Included among the events is a State of the University Address presented by Taylor President Dr. Eugene B. Habecker at 9:30 a.m., Saturday. The day continues with a cardboard boat regatta at Taylor Lake, football, soccer and lacrosse as well as shopping at the Taylor Campus Store. Taylor’s 7:00 p.m., football game with Marian University of Indianapolis will be the football team’s first under the lights at the new stadium.

Additional activities include plays, concerts and worship times.

Parents and Family Weekend originated nearly 40 years ago to recognize senior members of the Taylor football team and their parents. Since then, the weekend has grown into one of Taylor’s largest signature events.
