A forum featuring candidates for the congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Dan Burton (R-Ind.) will be held on the Taylor University campus Monday, October 29 at 7:00 p.m.

Featured will be Democratic candidate Scott Reske and Libertarian candidate Chard Reid. Organizers say an invitation was also issued to Republican candidate Susan Brooks but was declined. The event will be held in the Butz-Carruth Recital Hall in Taylor’s Smith-Hermanson Music Building.

A graduate of Purdue University, Reske served in the Marines during the Gulf War and is a retired firefighter and police officer. He also led his family-owned business and has served as a state representative since 2002. Reid holds degrees from Anderson University and the University of Indianapolis and is a macroeconomics, finance and personal finance teacher at Plainfield High School.

The event is sponsored by Taylor’s Department of Political Science and International Studies and Taylor Student Organization (TSO) Global Engagement.

There is no charge for admission, the public is invited.
