Samuel Morris Society

The Faith Fund still lives!

Just as men and women in the 19th century gave sacrificially so a penniless Liberian named Samuel Morris could attend Taylor University, the Samuel Morris Faith Fund continues today as the Taylor Fund, standing in the gap between dreams and reality. Samuel Morris Society members are alumni and friends who intentionally, humbly and sacrificially support the Taylor Fund, faithfully helping to bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of a Taylor University education for students, like Morris, who hunger to be "apostles of simple faith." (Learn more about Samuel Morris.)

Because the world needs the product of Taylor University--bright, well-educated men and women who are prepared to think critically and serve both competently and compassionately, Taylor University's Board of Trustees sets tuition costs at approximately 80 percent of what is needed, trusting and believing God will provide the remaining 20 percent to balance the annual budget. The Taylor Fund is truly the "Faith Fund" of the 21st century.

While capital and endowment gifts are critical to providing up-to-date facilities and meeting the future needs of the University, Taylor Fund gifts are crucial to Taylor's ongoing commitment to provide excellence at the highest level in faculty and program resources while also helping to meet the financial aid needs of students. Your membership in the Samuel Morris Society is your investment in building a legacy for the future -- a living, growing investment that reaps eternal dividends.

Charter membership in the Samuel Morris Society is open to the first 500 men and women who partner with Taylor in three areas:

  • Promote Taylor University among friends and family.
  • Provide an annual gift of $1,000 or more to the Taylor Fund; and
  • Pray for Taylor University.

Charter members will receive a leather-bound special edition of Jorge Masa's biography of Samuel Morris as an expression of Taylor's appreciation for joining the Samuel Morris Society. Membership is based on the calendar year. Samuel Morris Society members automatically become Taylor University Presidential Partners.
