Sherri Harter, Interim Vice President for University Advancement

Sherri HarterSherri has served Taylor for more than 25 years in the areas of public relations, donor relations, and philanthropy. As the Executive Director of Development, she provides leadership to the many areas of Development, including Taylor Scholarship Fund, Scholarships, Stewardship, Development/Donor Services, and the Women's Giving Circle. Sherri and her husband, Ted, live in Bluffton, Ind. The Harters have two sons – Thad '12 and Tory '16.

Michael Falder '94, Executive Director of Development

Michael Falder

As the Executive Director of Development, Mike provides planned giving assistance and leads the team of Regional Directors for Development as they travel the country meeting with alumni and friends. Prior to returning to Taylor in 2007, he served for 10 years as Executive Director of Central Michigan Youth for Christ. He completed his Masters Degree in Philanthropic Studies at Indiana University in 2012. Mike lives in Upland with his wife, Traci, and their children, Jonah and Lydia.

David Ritchie

David has been serving as a member of the Advancement staff since 2000, when he joined the team as the editor of Taylor magazine. He currently serves as the Senior Director of Campaigns. David and his family live in Upland.

Tom Green '81, Regional Director of Development

Tom GreenTom serves as one of Taylor’s Regional Directors for Development. He has the joy of working with Taylor alumni, parents, and friends throughout the eastern third of the U.S. in order to advance the mission of Taylor University.

Tom is married to Laurie (Kesler) Green ’81. Their three children are married and have blessed them with four beautiful grandchildren. He joined Taylor’s Advancement team in 2007 after working for 25 years in the investment industry. Tom is a fan of all sports – particularly the Colts and Cubs. He has also enjoyed acting on stage and in some television commercials over the years.

Nelson Rediger '66, Regional Director of Development

Nelson RedigerNelson has been serving with Taylor since 1986 as a Regional Director for Development. Nelson works with Taylor alumni, parents and friends nationwide in order to advance the mission of Taylor University.  Nelson lives in Muncie, Ind., with his wife, Beth, also a Taylor alum. Their two daughters, Erin ’99 and April ’01, have blessed Nelson and Beth with six grandchildren.

Kristie (Kuhnle) Jacobson '90, Regional Director of Development

Kristie JacobsonKristie serves as a Regional Director for Development in the Midwest, where she has the privilege of working with Taylor alumni, parents, and friends. Kristie started her career with Taylor in 1991 when she served as the director of public information, and then as the director of the Annual Fund (TUFW). She then began work with Project Mercy as a grant writer until 2003 when the Lord led her and her husband (Jeff '89) to start The Reclamation Project, a nonprofit that serves the refugee and immigrant community of Fort Wayne, Ind. Kristie led this organization as executive director for 10 years. Kristie returned to work in the Development department at Taylor in August of 2013.

Kristie and Jeff have four children. Their oldest son Gabe is serving as a U.S. Marine, their twin boys, Tate and Levi, are in high school, and their daughter Chloe is in middle school.

Ben Waterman '11, Regional Director of Development

Ben Waterman

Ben Waterman serves the alumni, parents, and friends of Taylor University in Illinois and western states as a Regional Director of Development.  Ben, a Taylor graduate of 2011, met his wife Mary on a pick-a-date at Taylor.  Shortly after graduating, Ben and Mary moved to the Chicagoland area where Ben began working with a small ministry in the western suburbs.  Prior to joining the Taylor University Advancement team in 2016, Ben served as a ministry director, a financial data analyst, a development director, and an executive director of advancement.  In addition to this unique background in development, Ben has a graduate certificate in Fundraising Management and he is completing an MBA at North Park University in Chicago.  Today, Ben, Mary, and their son Charlie live in Wheaton, IL.

Laura Key, Director of Advancement & Donor Services

Laura KeyLaura has been with Taylor since 1997. Her job as the Director of Advancement and Donor Services allows her to provide database support, write reports, and oversee the receipting of gifts to the University. Laura and her husband John live in Swayzee, Ind., where John serves as the pastor of Maple Run Friends Church. They have two grown children, Samuel and Abby ’10.

Laura’s area is also served by the Data Specialist, Christi Stargel, and the Assistant to Donor Services, Barbra Haley.

Michael D Mortensen ’91, Director of Scholarships

Michael MortensenMichael has served Taylor since 1997 (with the exception of a year and a half when he and his wife were short-term missionaries) in various alumni and development roles. Michael and his wife, Christine ’92, who got engaged underneath the Rice Bell Tower, have five children, Ashlyn ’17, Alli ’20, Anna, David, and Jonathan. The family loves having students in their home to be a “home away from home” and taking students on short-term mission projects. The family resides in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Andre M. Payne '08, Director of the Taylor Scholarship Fund

Andre PayneAs the Director of the Taylor Scholarship Fund, Andre works within the Advancement Office to strategize, organize, and implement Taylor's comprehensive annual giving program through direct mail, the student calling program, online giving, personal visits, and other avenues. Andre received his Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Taylor University. He went on to complete his MBA at Keller Graduate School of Management. Prior to returning to Taylor and joining the Advancement team, Andre acquired more than five years' experience working in higher education. He now lives in Fishers area.

Lida Sheard '15, Assistant Director of the Taylor Scholarship Fund

Lida SheardAs Assistant Director of the Taylor Scholarship Fund, Lida works with the student calling program, young alumni projects, and direct mail campaigns. Lida spent time working in this department as an undergraduate student before she graduated from Taylor with a Bachelor of Arts in History. She now lives with her husband, Andrew Sheard '16, in Upland.
