From Our Minds to Yours
Final thoughts from Ethiopia
From: Lighthouse 2010 Stories
Our last days in Ethiopia were difficult but among the most fruitful of the entire trip. On Sunday, a handful of the guys woke up early to jog up the closest mountain and try to catch sunrise from the top. We managed to make it, but it was too cloudy to see sunrise. We were still able to have a short morning devotional time and see for miles in the clear morning air once daylight broke.

Post-trip reflections from Ecuador team member
From: Lighthouse 2010 Stories
Prior to this trip, I spent a lot of my time thinking and trying to process the
future. Many times this thinking was geared to thoughts about myself only, and
as a result I continually found myself worrying. This worry turned me into
selfish person. My selfishness made me a less approachable person and less
likely to step up in situations that required leadership.
However, throughout the trip I was constantly reminded through scripture that
God is in control, and all that is required of me is give him the "reigns" of my
life. As I began to allow God to take full control of my life He made many of
the uncertainties that bothered me disappear and God's desire for my life became
clear.
Aside from the change Christ made in me, He was able to do immeasurable works
through our team. It was a true pleasure to serve with fellow brothers and
sisters in Christ as we worked for the Lord and the people of Ecuador. I speak
for the entire team when I say that we learned what it means to be humble
servants for Christ. I am thankful for the opportunity Christ gave me to grow in
Him and the chance to deepen my relationship with Him. -James Convy

Follow all of our progress on the official trip blog (which just happens to be written by yours truly.) And I'll be returning with the usual updates on this page once we get back!

Paraguay team says goodbye to Aché friends
From: Lighthouse 2010 Stories
So apparently Paraguay wins for the least amount of blogs written. I will chalk it up to the fact that we have been in an area with little to no interaction with the great metropolis that is ‘the city’. Arroyo Bandera has no internet, no telephones, and the electricity and water went out without any notice a few times (if you want to experience that, try going to the bathroom with no lights on and not being able to flush, mmhmm).

Elmo in Grouchland
From: Casual Friday
As the Lighthouse teams wrap up their mission trips, the Taylor University Sundance team is just getting started! We had our first full day of film screenings today, and let me tell you, I thought today was full of downright "trash" -- though not for the reasons you might think! In fact, my most memorable movie of the day was all about the beauty that can be found in world's largest landfill. (Oscar the Grouch would be so proud of me... because, just like every good Grouch, I've come to the conclusion that "I love trash!") Check out our official trip blog at this link!
