Leadership Initiative of Taylor

Who will you be when you graduate?

What makes a leader? Have you ever wondered about your own potential for leadership? Maybe you have served in a leadership position or you have volunteered to help with a local ministry. Does that make you a leader? And if so, how do you learn to become a better leader?

The Leadership Initiative of Taylor (LiT) is a four level program that encourages you to achieve leadership goals during your four-year college experience.

Key Facts of the LiT Program

  • LiT is a four-year program of leadership training, experiences and mentoring. LiT pulls together the various leadership activities that you do ? and encourages you to grow through them.
  • Most of the requirements for the first level of the LiT program are incorporated in New Student Orientation. All freshmen will be introduced to leadership training via the New Student Orientation program.
  • Requirements of the program include community service, academic coursework, student-to-student mentoring, on-campus leadership and exposure to diversity issues.
  • The leadership curriculum includes classes for credit.

All students are encouraged to participate, not just those in student development leadership positions. To encourage inclusiveness, a wide variety of leadership and participation may be used to meet requirements of the LiT program. For example, members of student groups such as athletic teams or music ensembles will be credited for on-campus participation. This program builds as you complete each level. You will be challenged to remain involved in leadership activities and training regardless of your leadership position.
