Mu Kappa is a student support association for "missionary kids" (MKs) and "third culture kids" (TCKs). These students have spent some time during their formative years in a cross-cultural environment. Their parents may be missionaries, military personnel, or tentmakers in industry serving overseas.
Mu Kappa began in 1986 on the campus of Taylor, and has now expanded to over 50 other Christian college campuses.
The purpose of Mu Kappa is to provide a support group, and assist MKs and TCKs in making a smooth adjustment to yet another culture, as they experience reverse culture shock. In addressing their own needs, this organization "by MKs/TCKs and for MKs/TCKs" promotes Christian fellowship, unity, and growth to maximize their potential as world-conscious citizens in the Taylor community.
