Dr. Eugene B. Habecker

 Taylor University alumnus Dr. Eugene B. Habecker is the 30th president of Taylor University, having assumed the presidency on August 15, 2005.

Prior to returning to Taylor, Habecker was president of the American Bible Society since 1991, serving with his wife Marylou as leaders, traveling speakers and goodwill ambassadors.

Habecker has also served at Huntington University as president (Indiana; 1981-1991) and executive vice president (1979-1981). He has held various other institutional administrative positions.

Habecker holds degrees from Taylor University, Ball State University and the University of Michigan; a law degree from Temple University; and a certificate from Harvard University's Institute for Educational Management. He has also received honorary degrees from nine colleges and universities and has been a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association since 1974.

In addition to his education, Habecker has traveled to more than 90 countries in Asia, Africa, North and South America, Europe and the Middle East. He has also authored numerous articles and four books: Affirmative Action in the Independent College (1977), The Other Side of Leadership (1987), Leading with a Follower's Heart (1990) and Re-Discovering the Soul of Leadership (1996).

Habecker is the recipient of honors including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Religion, Who's Who in American Education, Directory of American Scholars and Two Thousand Notable Americans. In 1998, he was named Distinguished Alumnus for Professional Achievement by Taylor University, and the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) named him Layperson of the Year in 1999.

Habecker and his wife Marylou are each members of multiple boards. His memberships have included The American Bible Society, The National Association of Evangelicals and Christianity Today, while she has served on the boards of The Women's Bible Society of New York, Nyack College, Taylor University, New York City's Museum of Biblical Art (MoBia) and the Overseas Council International.

They are the parents of three grown children, two sons and a daughter:  David and his wife Shelly live in Maryland; Matthew, his wife Stefanie and son Alek live in Michigan; and MaryBeth and her husband Kyle live in Indianapolis, Indiana.
