Arrival and Departure Information

ARRIVAL: Your son will be expected to arrive on campus between 5:00 - 6:00 Sunday evening. He should report to Wengatz Hall located on the south end of our campus. You should plan to eat dinner before arriving at camp, but a snack will be served at approximately 9:00 Sunday evening.

Please be sure to bring a health statement form to camp with you which has been signed by a physician and dated within 12 months of the first day of camp indicating that your son is in good physical condition to play basketball. You may use the Taylor form or a physician's form. However, if you are using a physician's form, you will be requested to sign the parent's medical authorization portion of the Taylor form. A blank Taylor form, which you can take to your physician to be filled out, will be mailed to you with your receipt for the $100 deposit for camp fees or you can print one off of this Web site.

If a balance for camp fees is due when you arrive at camp, make sure you bring the final payment in the form of cash, check, or money order. Credit cards will not be accepted Sunday evening for final payment.

DEPARTURE: You should plan to meet your son Friday between 3:30 - 4:15 at Wengatz Hall where you dropped him off. After loading his belongings, you may come to the gym for the 4:30 basketball program and exhibition which will be concluded by 5:30.

Packing List

  • A week's supply of shorts, shirts, underwear, socks (two pair a day), sleepwear, swimsuit.  A sweatshirt or jacket for cool evenings or rainy days. A good sunscreen is suggested.

We recommend that the boys wear two pairs of socks during their games, as they play three games each day. A Taylor Basketball Camp shirt is given to each boy during the week. Souvenir shirts, shorts, and basketballs are also available for purchase during the week and on Friday afternoon.
  • A small bag or tote to carry items between the gymnasium and the dorm, if desired.
  • Cell phones are discouraged at camp.
  • Bottled pop and candy are available for $1.00 at the concession stand.
  • It is strongly recommended that valuable articles such as watches, radios, rings, CDs, etc., not be brought to camp. We cannot be liable for damage or loss.

Our Pledge

We pledge that every boy who attends the Taylor Basketball Camp:

  1. Will be taught the basic fundamentals of the game of basketball with emphasis on individualized instruction.
  2. Will be selected on a team in his own age group and have a chance to play a complete league schedule.
  3. Will have the best care in food, housing facilities, and training rooms.
  4. Will be given help in the areas of character, good citizenship, and moral and Christian values of life with devotions each night from the Bible.
  5. Will be tested on his skills with copies of the results to be given to his parents.
  6. Will have close supervision at all times.

Taylor Basketball Camp Mission Statement

While it is our intent that our camp continues to be one of the best anywhere when it comes to teaching the basic skills and concepts of basketball, it is also our purpose to model and represent the highest of Christian values for your son through his time with us.

We will do this by having Christian counselors and providing them with training in coaching and relational skills. The guest speakers we present will be people with spiritual values that are apparent in their performances. Campers will receive personal attention from their coaches and will be closely supervised at all times.

It is not possible to master the game of basketball in a week, just as life skills are not developed in that time, but we will plant the seeds for a lifetime of success.
