In the summer of 2005 Patterson was selected as a court coach for the USA Basketball Under 21 Championship team.

Making his first speaking appearance at the Basketball Coaching Academy, University of Iowa head coach Todd Lickliter will provide a look into the nuances of Iowa basketball. Entering his third season at the helm of the Hawkeye program, Lickliter is charged with rebuilding a program with great tradition. Lickliter spent eight seasons as the head man at Butler University before moving to Iowa. In eight years as a college head coach he has led his teams to two NCAA tournament Sweet 16 appearances (2003 and 2007), earned NABC National Coach of the Year (2007) and was named the Horizon League coach of the year on two separate occasions.
