Lady Trojans Falter at Wilberforce

The women's basketball team lost its season opener at Wilberforce by an 87-74 margin on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Trojans led early, but an injury to senior center Bethany Ballard severely hampered their efforts as Wilberforce took the lead late in the first half and never relinquished it.
Taylor opened up a lead as big as ten points through the first fifteen minutes of play, but lost Ballard when she collided with another player. Ballard would return to the court in the second half but was not able to bring the Lady Trojans back.
Wilberforce did much of their damage in transition and from long range as they connected on 42% of their three-point attempts.
Ballard finished with 24 points on 8 of 14 from the field. Allison Reece was the only other Lady Trojan in double figures with 12. Erin Guaneri led TU on the boards with five.
The team will travel to Midway College in Kentucky on Tuesday for their next contest.
