2007 Season Review
The 2007 Trojans began the season with nine wins in twelve consecutive road games, featuring two wins at the competitive Bryan Tournament. Wins against NCAA Division I Charleston Southern and 13th-ranked Southern Poly Tech highlighted the remainder of the season. Taylor finished the year 25-26, 10-13 in conference games. Closing games proved to be the Achilles heel for the Trojans as they suffered 12 one-run losses, including three in extra innings.
The Trojans were led by five seniors, including four who earned All-Conference honors. Tad Litwiller and Chris Nycz received first-team accolades while Ricky Pease and Michael Bentley received honorable mention recognition. Also named to the first-team was catcher Paul Passiales and sophomore transfer Matt Maple, who received the recognition in his first MCC campaign. The four first-team selections tied Taylor for the most in the conference.
Nycz led all Trojan pitchers in ERA (3.08), appearances (25) and innings pitched (76). Pease, a first baseman, graduated as Taylor's single-season and career hits leader. Litwiller led the team with 15 stolen bases on 18 attempts in addition to four home runs. Bentley paced the Trojans offensive attack with 44 RBI's.
The 2007 season provided collegiate experience to 11 freshmen who will look to make the 2008 season another successful one for the Trojans. Three of those freshmen saw action in at least 39 games totaling 119 starts between them. Four freshmen pitchers made at least 10 appearances totaling 173.1 innings.
