Scholarships from Outside Sources

This page will display information and web addresses of scholarships that are available from sources outside of Taylor University. The scholarships will be posted on this page as we receive them and may be deleted after the time for application has expired.  Please note that even if the scholarship has expired, the contact information may still be good, enabling you to find out information for the next year.

The Scholarships vary so widely, that we will list them alphabetically by the company providing the scholarship--NOT by the Scholarship title or qualifications.

Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne

For students majoring in Advertising, Communications, Commercial Art, Graphic Design, Marketing, Market Research, Public Relations, Telecommunications, Video Production and related fields.  If you are a resident of the following Indiana counties: Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley, go to http://www.adfedfortwayne.org/ to download an application for a scholarship of $1000 to $1500.  Deadline is March 21, 2008.
 

ADFED - Advertising Federation of East Central Indiana

ADFED will be awarding $3,000 in scholarsips to students studying advertisind, marketing, graphic arts, pulic relations, journalism, telecommunications or a related discipline.  Students must be a resident of Delaware, Blackford, Grant, Jay, Henry, Madison, Randolph, or Wayne counties.  Must be currently enrolled with second year standing or above.  Application can be found at www.adfedeci.org .  Deadline is March 14, 2008.

 

Alpha Gamma Delta Eta Alumnae Scholarship

Students must be enrolled as a junior or senior for the upcoming academic year at an accredited Indiana college or university, and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.  To view more information, including candidate criteria, and an application for this scholarship, please go to the Web site

American Cancer Society

If you are a cancer survivor age 20 or younger (as of 4/18/2006), a U.S. citizen and legal resident of Michigan or Indiana, and are attending or planning to attend an accredited college or university in Michigan or Indiana in the fall of 2006, you may qualify for a scholarship from the American Cancer Society.  To apply you may complete an application call (800) 723-0360.

American Society of Women Accountants Educational Foundation

The Marion, Indiana, Chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants Educational Foundation is offering scholarships to students who are majoring in accounting or finance.  Please contact the Financial Aid Office for more information and an application.  Deadline is February 15, 2008.

Friends of Colombia Society (Sociedad Amigos de Colombia-SADCO)

If you are Hispanic of 1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation, a resident of Indiana, a High School senior who is accepted by an accredited college or college freshman or sophomore pursuing an associate or bachelor degree, you may apply at www.sadco.org .

The Community Foundation of Grant County, Indiana, Inc.

Scholarship information and applications are available at www.comfdn.org for residents of Grant County, Indiana. Deadline is February 14, 2007.

Heritage Fund - The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County

Undergraduate or Graduate students pursuing degrees in business, who are juniors or seniors at an accredited college or university, may apply for an award of no less than $1,000.  Student must be a resident of Bartholomew County, Indiana. Preference will be given to finance and banking majors.  Applications are available at www.heritagefundbc.org.  Deadline is 4:00 p.m., February 15, 2008.  For questions, call (812) 376-7772.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be of Hispanic heritage, and have completed high school in the state of Georgia.  You must be a first time freshman, currently enrolled in a four-institution.  You must be a US citizen, a high school GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and must have completed a FAFSA.  This will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis until the program is filled.  Contact Carlos Chavoya, Program Officer, Pipeline Scholarships, Hispanic Scholarship Fund, Tel: (415) 808-2372, Fax: (415) 808-2304, http://www.hsf.net/ for application information.

The Huntington County Community Foundation

The Huntington County Community Foundation Luke and Erma Scheer Memorial Scholarship will award $1,000 to a college student who has completed his/her sophomore year pursuing a degree in history, historic preservation or a related field, who is also a Huntington County, Indiana resident.  Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office, and the deadline is March 28, 2008.

Indiana Black Expo, Inc. Circle City Classic Scholarship

This scholarship is for ALL nationalities!  Applicant must be accepted into an accredited post-secondary institution and have a GPA of at least 2.0. Paper applications are available in the Financial Aid office or Ethnic Student Office at Taylor University.

The Indiana CPA Society and Independent Colleges of Indiana 

The Indiana CPA Society and Independent Colleges of Indiana will be awarding six $500 scholarships to students who are residents of Indiana, attending an ICI member institution, and pursuing accounting. The student must be in good standing and be on target to graduate no later than the final semester of 2009-2010.

Application deadline is 4:30 p.m., February 22, 2008.

Only two applications per school are accepted.  Stop by the Financial Aid Office to find out more information.

The Indiana Wildlife Federation 

The Indiana Wildlife Federation is accepting applicants for their scholarship of $1,000.  Applicants should be a sophomore or above for the upcoming fall semester, with a major or minor in resource conservation or environmental education.  Application deadline is April 30, 2008.  Application forms are available at http://www.indianawildlife.org/ .  Applications and required forms are to be sent to Wildlife Federation Endowment, Scholarship Committee, 4715 W. 106th Street, Zionsville, In 46077.

IRTA Foundation

The Indiana Retired Teachers Association Foundation will be offering eight $1,500.00 scholarships to university level sophomores and juniors who are majoring in education.  Visit http://www.retiredteachers.org/ for an application.  Applications must be received by February 15th, 2008.

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation

You will qualify to apply for this scholarship if you are the son or daughter of a Marine or US Navy Corpsman on active duty or in the Reserve, retired,  deceased, on Honorable Discharge, Medical Discharge, or who was killed while in the service of our country.  If your 2006 family income is $65,000 or less, please apply at this Web site.

National Federation of the Blind

The National Federation of the Blind has a large scholarship program whose awards are made solely to persons who are legally blind.  The Federation's program will award thirty scholarships to high-achieving legally blind students next summer.  Application deadline is March 31, 2006 and you may apply at this Web site.

The National Scholars Honor Society

The National Scholars Honor Society is an academic honors organization dedicated to actively encouraging, recognizing and rewarding high academic achievement in all areas of study.  For more information and qualifications, visit this Web site.

The Sallie Mae Fund Unmet Need Scholarship

Students from low-income families can get additional financial assistance through this scholarship from The Sallie Mae Fund, a charitable organization sponsored by Sallie Mae. The scholarship will supplement the financial aid package - not substitute for aid - received from an institution.  Scholarship awards, ranging from $1,000 to $3,800, will be made payable to the school on behalf of the student and are intended to supplement, rather than substitute for, aid received from an institution.

Student applicants must: Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident, demonstrate unmet financial need of more than $1,000 after the financial aid package has been determined, have a family adjusted gross income of $30,000 or less, be a high school senior or graduate planning to enroll or a student already enrolled in a full-time* undergraduate course of study at an accredited postsecondary institution and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent.

The Student Anthem Project

The Challenge section of the Student Anthem Project offers a $5000 scholarship to the student who crafts the best musical anthem that inspires teenagers to stay in school, to work hard, and to achieve.  The important dates are March 15 (intent to apply) and April 15 (application deadline).  While ALL students are invited to apply, students who desire to teach music in K-12 schools are especially welcomed.  Get more information and submit your application at this Web site.
