Profiles

Periodical Indexes (research databases)
See "Databases" from the Zondervan web site

  • ATLA Religion Database
In this section, in addition to periodical articles, ATLA Religion could be useful in identifying D.Min. projects/dissertations that focus upon specific ministry objectives and projects.  Many of these dissertations/projects are available through interlibrary loan.

These are two other education-related related databases that could be useful in clarifying educational goals.  They will not have much, however, pertaining to Christian ministry.

  • ERIC
is the most comprehensive index to educational periodical literature, going back to 1966.  It also includes indexing to "ERIC documents".  These encompass a broad range of research studies, teaching modules, and programmatic information.  Some of these ERIC documents may have implications for ministry programs in terms of educational theory, objectives, and practice.  Only a minority of material (articles and "ERIC Documents") in ERIC pertains specifically to Christian education or ministries; still, what is there it can be useful for ideas and drawing inferences.  Only some of the periodical articles cited in ERIC are available full-text online through related databases.  Many ERIC documents from 1998 to the present are now available online.
  •
  • Professional Development Collection
is another education-related index primarily of periodicals (over 550 titles) with over 350 titles available with full-text online.  As with ERIC, not much material is related to Christian education expressly.
  •
  • Academic Search Premier
is a general index to over 8,000 periodicals with full-text online for about 4,700 titles.   The majority of what you will find here is not related to Christianity or ministry, however as with the other databases there is some material from which you can draw insights and inferences.

See this sample search in WorldCat on "church work with youth" from 1995 to the present which includes books, dissertations/theses, etc. (This is only a sampling of the most recent 100 citations.)

Here is a sampling from another search in WorldCat for books using the terms "theology or theological" and "christian" and ("education or ministry or ministries")  and "christian education - philosophy" and limited from 1985 to the present.

Internet Resources

Processes

Most of the resources, especially the research databases under Box C apply here as well.  They can identify specific research and theories about development and learning.   Also the sources under Box B, especially "Psychological" and "Educational" should be reviewed.

See search on  "Learning, Psychology" in the Zondervan catalog

For other books see WorldCat. E.g., you may want to do a search on "theory or theories" and "learn or learning" from 1990-, limiting these terms to the TITLE field; then broaden by limiting to the SUBJECT field.

Practices

  • ATLA Religion Database
can be useful in identifying specific ministry issues and projects (especially D.Min. projects as described above.)
