Instant Messaging and Research Help: Librarians to the Rescue!

09.05.2007

The Zondervan Library has developed a few new things for this school year. In a continuation from last semester, we are offering Instant Messaging reference services for the following platforms:
  • AIM: ZondervanLibrary
  • Yahoo! Messenger: ZondervanLibrary
  • Google Talk: ZondervanLibrary@gmail.com
  • MSN Messenger: ZondervanLibrary@hotmail.com

We'll be available during hours when a librarian is at the Reference Desk, as well as some extended evening hours. Look us up to ask basic information questions (When is the library open? How do I find this book?, etc.) as well as questions that develop as you begin research.

In an effort to provide better online services, we have also created a series of Research Guides arranged by department (Art, Biology, Psychology, Sociology, etc.) to help you with beginning a research project. What kinds of resources (books, journals, online articles, encyclopedias…) should you use? Where can you find resources that relate to your discipline? The Research Guides provide a variety of types of resources to show you the broad spectrum of your topic.

The Library staff has also created a presence on Facebook. Join our group: Zondervan Library Page for Communication and Information. Ask questions on our wall. Participate in discussions. Learn about Library activities. Let us know how you feel about library services and what we could do to better meet your needs.

Don't forget to Ask-A-Librarian when you have questions or when you're frustrated with trying to use library resources. We're happy to assist you in your research and as you navigate the overwhelming amount of information that's out there.
