Admission Requirements and Process

Taylor University is seeking applicants who are committed to preparing themselves professionally and personally to provide thoughtful and effective service within diverse higher educational settings. Candidates should be committed to being stretched intellectually, socially and spiritually.

Candidates are encouraged to apply early as enrollment each year is limited to 15 students.

Applicants must possess or anticipate a Bachelors degree from an accredited U.S. college or university. Additionally, they will demonstrate undergraduate and/or professional experience related to student development or other higher educational leadership.

A minimum of a 2.7 grade point average (on a 4 point scale) is required for admission. However, students falling below this level will be considered for admission if they submit acceptable official scores from either the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).

Application Process

The following application items constitute an official request for admission to the Master of Arts in Higher Education program:

  • MAHE application form.  Application can be completed digitally using MS Word (print and return by mail or email completed application)
  • An admissions narrative explaining why you wish to enroll in the Taylor University MAHE program. The narrative should be approximately 600-1000 words, and serve as an example of your written communication skills. The following elements should be included (also explained in application):
    • Work experience (professional, student or other) related to higher education and/or student development
    • Personal qualities that are likely to lend to your success in the field of higher education
    • Professional goals
    • Educational goals
  • Official transcripts from all previous undergraduate and graduate institutions
  • Three references, two academic and one pastoral, from individuals who are able to address the issues of your personal faith, character, academic abilities, ability to work with people, and work ethic.
          
  • $100 application fee (non-refundable) Note: The application fee will be waived for applications received prior to January 31, 2010.
