Dr. Richard Parker teaches drum classDuring a student's experience with the Taylor University music department, he/she is trained and prepared to enter the world of music. Students graduating with a major or minor in music enjoy a variety of opportunities following graduation.

Thirty percent of Taylor's music majors go on to graduate school, 60 percent are employed in teaching or other fields, and 10 percent pursue various careers.

  • Enter the field of music technology
  • Teach in public and private schools
  • Retail sales and business related fields
  • Produce contemporary Christian or secular music
  • Offer music lessons for elementary, junior and high school students
  • Perform on Broadway or community theatre
  • Tour abroad, either in professional ensembles or solo ministry
  • Compose and record music
  • Conduct an orchestra, band or choir at the collegiate level
