Recent Highlights
Kirby Hall '06 received a fellowship from the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation and is teaching junior high science. Timon McPhearson'97 is assistant professor of environmental science and ecology at The New School in Manhattan. Pam Crane '03 successfully defended her dissertation and earned her PhD in water resources from Notre Dame. Roman Wilson '97 is employed at Lakeshore Environmental, Inc in Grand Haven, Michigan. He heads the department of Brownfield / Sustainability / LEED for the firm. Scott Sheeley '90 wrote to let us know of his recent hire with the New York State DOT as an Environmental Specialist. Even more exciting was his recent largemouth bass catch!
Another Environmental Specialist is Brian Jacobson '96, who works with the URS Corp. Ben Rocke '04 is a geologist with Shell Exploration & Production Co, Americas. Adam Hanna '02 is a conservation warden for the Bureau of Law Enforcement with the Wisconsin DNR. Angie Deem '98 landed in a yeast genetics PhD program. Although not an environmental position, she writes that "your department adequately prepared me to survive in a new field of research because the program taught us how to think independently, which is key."
Steve Knudsen '96 dropped by over the summer to visit. He asked about the movie The Holy Grail and wondered if there is a list of the "10 things to look for" in the film that Dr. Squiers showed in Environmental Ethics class. Adam Lusk '02 sent news that son William Hugh was born on July 23. Cindy Hitson '02 is serving in Bolivia with Food for the Hungry. Bill Winner '03 is a Lieutenant (j.g.) officer with NOAA and serves on the ship Thomas Jefferson.
