The Computer Science and Engineering Department offers offers several major and curriculum options. The program enables the student to choose whether to focus on a degree in computer science or to enhance his/her degree in another field with a systems designation. For those wishing to major in computer science or a related major, the Department has recently adapted its computer science curriculum to meet the needs of a dynamic discipline. Those wishing to add a systems designation to a degree in another field are offered both specially designed systems curriculum courses and targeted computer science courses.
In computer science, a suite of required core courses remain at the heart of each major. The Department also has added a major in Computer Science - New Media, a program offered jointly with the Visual Arts and Communication Arts Department, and has strengthened its existing Computer Engineering major, offered jointly with the Physics Department. Additional information about the degree programs offered by the Computer Science and Engineering Department are available on the programs pages of the CSE Departmental web site.

The systems designation may be obtained with any major by adding 42-43 hours in systems, computer science and related courses. The systems curriculum overlaps with general education and major requirements, and is an interdisciplinary concentration focused on solving problems in a systematic manner using both analytical and computational techniques. The systems program develops communication and presentation skills in conjunction with interpersonal and technical skills.
Taylor University graduates with a systems curriculum added to their degree are annually granted awards by the regional Association for Systems Management in recognition of the excellence of the program and the contribution of the graduates in organizations in the Midwest.
