U.S. News Ranks Taylor #1
Taylor University has received the Number One ranking in the Midwest Region of Best Baccalaureate Colleges in the 2008 U.S.News & World Report survey, America’s Best Colleges. It is Taylor’s first number one ranking and follows ten straight top-three finishes.
Taylor received 100 ranking points while second-place Ohio Northern University (Ohio) received 89 points. Cedarville (Ohio) and Dordt (Iowa) scored 81 for a fourth-place tie while Augustana (South Dakota) with 79 rounded out the top five.
Among the Midwest Best Baccalaureate Colleges, Taylor scored high marks in several fields of criteria: first in Peer Assessment Score, Average Freshman Retention Rate and Average Graduation Rate, and second in Alumni Giving Rate and Freshmen in Top 25% of High School Class.
Taylor University Named in Barron's Best Buys
Taylor University is one of 260 colleges nationwide named in the seventh edition of Barron's Best Buys in College Education. According to its introduction, the publication cites colleges and universities where students and parents will receive a great value for their education dollar.
Taylor's profile takes special note of Taylor's Life Together Covenant and the trust that it expects, and receives from Taylor students.
Barron's Best Buys in College Education, written by Lucia Solórzano, is published every two years by Barron's Educational Series.
Peterson Recognizes Taylor as One of Most Competitive Colleges
Taylor University has been selected to appear in the 16th edition of Peterson's Competitive Colleges, an annual guide to the nation's top colleges.
Schools listed in Peterson's Competitive Colleges represent approximately the top ten percent of American colleges and universities. Inclusion in the directory is based upon several criteria, including freshman ACT averages, high school GPA, and retention statistics. Schools are selected for the volume based on independent evaluation of these criteria.
Taylor will be featured on a profile page in the guide highlighting information drawn form Peterson's annual survey of undergraduate institutions.
Peterson's, an information services company, is the world's leading provider of information on U.S.-accredited educational institutions and special programs. The group's publications rank among the best-selling, most respected higher education guides in the world.
The Princeton Review Designates Taylor a "Best Midwestern College"
The Princeton Review has designated Taylor University one of the top 161 colleges in the Midwest. Of the nation's 3,500 colleges and universities, only 654 institutions met the criteria for inclusion in Princeton Review's five "Best Colleges" regional guidebooks. Selection of colleges was based solely upon academic excellence, according to Robert Franek, editorial director and lead author of the guidebooks.
The Princeton Review, founded in 1981, assists high school students in their college search through its Web site and the development of college guidebooks.
"The Best Midwestern Colleges" is one of five regional guidebooks published for the first time this year to supplement Princeton Review's best-selling national guidebook "The Best 366 Colleges."
