Award-winning tenor and Taylor alumnus Steve Amerson will be among the featured performers as Taylor University and the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra present Sing Noel, Saturday, December 3, at 7:30 p.m., in the Rediger Chapel/Auditorium on the Taylor campus.
Amerson, a 1976 Taylor graduate, is a popular tenor whose voice has been heard on more than 165 feature films, television shows, and commercials including: Star Trek Into Darkness, Get Smart, Fantastic Four, Home Alone, Beauty and The Beast, Cheers, Designing Women, St. Elsewhere, and Touched by an Angel.
He has partnered with well-known pastors, authors and ministry organizations, and is a musical ambassador for the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation and Society. In 2009, he was presented with the Bob Hope Excellence in Entertainment Award from the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. In May, Taylor University awarded Amerson an honorary doctorate in recognition of his musical achievements.
The Sing Noel program will feature selections from Handel’s Messiah and other Christmas selections. Also performing Saturday will be Lauren Walker, soprano; Courtney Jameson '14, alto; and Conor Angell '06, bass. The Taylor University Chorale and Sounds vocal ensembles, under the direction of Dr. JoAnn Rediger '71, will also perform.
