From Dr. Paige Comstock Cunningham to the Taylor community:
Taylor University has enjoyed a long and warm relationship with the Bahamas. Our hearts are drawn to our current Bahamian students, 157 graduates, and their families as they face the devastation left by Hurricane Dorian.
Along with our current Bahamian students, 67 of our 157 Bahamian graduates currently call the Bahamas their home. We pray for the Lord’s comfort and protection for them, as well as their families, in the days, weeks, and months to come, and that many will respond generously to their needs.
Almost hourly we are receiving updates from our Bahamian students about the welfare of their families. At this time we know that four of our students’ family homes have been destroyed, and other students have yet to hear from family members. To say these are difficult days for our dear friends is an understatement.
We are currently processing several opportunities on how best to respond to the needs that are coming to our attention, and we will soon share practical ways and ideas of how you can assist.
Please continue to pray and encourage our Bahamian brothers and sisters as they walk through these challenging days.
With concern and prayer,
Paige Comstock Cunningham, PhD, JD
Interim President
Taylor University
