Guest Artist Paula Monsalve Featured At Spring Concerts

Guest artist Paula Monsalve will join Taylor University's Symphony Orchestra, and the Taylor Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo will present their final concerts for the 2016-2017 next week.

The Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo will present Swing into Spring, Tuesday, May 2, at 7:30 pm, in the Butz Carruth Recital Hall at the Smith-Hermanson Music Center. Featuring many types of jazz music in swing and Latin styles, selections on this program include Music from Chicago, Goomba Boomba, Cubano Chant, Lady Bird, Footprints, the Subtle Sermon and Katy-Do.


Taylor University Symphony Orchestra with guest artist Paula Monsalve will present Viva la Musica!, Wednesday, May 3, at 7:30 pm, in the Rediger Chapel/Auditorium. A concert of orchestral music by Rimsky-Korsakov, Chabrier, and Britten will be performed on the first half of the concert. The second half will highlight the music of Chilean-born Paula Monsalve and her Quintet playing the rhythms and melodies of Mexico, Spain, and South America. This performance marks the first collaboration for the orchestra with another prominent professional ensemble.

These concerts are presented by Taylor University's Department of Music, Theatre and Dance.
