Taylor University alumnus and longtime baseball coach Kyle Gould has been named as the school’s Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. Gould's selection follows a national search, and according to campus officials, he will continue to lead Taylor's baseball program.

“I am excited about Kyle assuming this responsibility,” said Taylor's Vice President for Student Development, Dr. Skip Trudeau. “He brings a good combination of discipleship infused practice with athletic knowledge and competitiveness. His experience as an Assistant Athletics Director and as a successful coach, along with his appreciation for the experience of student-athletes will serve him well in this new role.”

“Taylor University and its athletics department have had a profound impact on my life, both as a student-athlete and as a coach,” said Gould. “I am thankful for the opportunity that Dr. Trudeau has afforded me and I look forward to working with an incredible group of coaches and staff in the development of our student-athletes.”

Gould has nearly two decades of experience at Taylor, beginning his time in Upland as a two-sport student-athlete for the Trojans in 1998. After graduating in 2002 with a degree in sport management, Gould returned to campus in the fall of 2003 as an assistant baseball coach, before taking over the reins of the baseball program in the fall of 2004.

Over the past 12 years at the helm of the Taylor baseball program, Gould has amassed a record of 398 victories to only 236 defeats (.627), while winning seven league championships and five Crossroads League Coach-of-the-Year awards. Taylor has notched the nine-highest, single-season win totals in program history under Gould, who is only 47 wins short of becoming the program’s all-time wins leader in the dugout.

In addition to his coaching impact, Gould has also held an administrative role within the athletics department since being named as an Assistant Athletics Director prior to the 2004-2005 year. While in that position, Gould served as a member of the Leadership Team, oversaw and assisted with event management and coordinated the Odle Classic among various other responsibilities.

Gould will take over for Amy Stucky, who will return to her position as Associate Athletics Director after serving in the interim AD role since the departure of Dr. Angie Fincannon in the spring of 2015.

“I would like to express the university’s gratitude to Amy for her service as interim Athletics Director this past year,” stated Trudeau. “She has served well in this interim role and we are excited that she will continue as a member of the intercollegiate athletics staff.”

Gould will begin his duties as Athletics Director on Monday, June 20.
