A partnership between Taylor University’s Art Department and Taylor’s Global Outreach Cabinet will raise funds for the Shepherd Community Center in Indianapolis.

Empty Bowls, an annual soup cook-off by members of the Taylor community, will be held Wednesday, November 15, in the Alspaugh East and West Rooms at the Hodson Dining Commons from 5:30-7:30 pm. Chili and soup recipes from members of the Taylor community are served in bowls created by Taylor art students. The event allows students, staff and community to gather and purchase the options of handmade ceramic bowls filled with soup, just soup or just the bowl.

Empty Bowls was launched in 2012 with a goal of educating students on worldwide hunger.

“Something that sets Global Outreach apart from other cabinets on campus is that we not only strive to give students a good experience, but to educate them on something that matters and get a conversation started,” said Hannah Williams, student member of Global Outreach.
