Upland, Indiana—Taylor University’s Interim President Dr. Paige Comstock Cunningham has announced the dates for the rescheduled 2020 commencement ceremonies and the start of the 2020 fall semester.
Commencement, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, May 23, is now scheduled for Saturday, August 15. Fall semester, which launches the 2020-21 academic year, is scheduled to begin on August 31.
“We have made it to the end of spring semester. Seniors are jumping into finals week and I am so thankful for the way you have hung in there, and pivoted to finish your courses in a different way,” she said during a video announcement.
“Secondly, to our faculty—your creativity, your endurance, and your commitment to every single student is such an inspiration to me,” she added. “I also what to say thank you to our staff, who have been working behind the scenes to keep us connected, well cared for, and safe when we are on campus, and in touch with one another when we are away.”
Cunningham said additional details are forthcoming and would be announced as soon as they are available. Taylor University, along with hundreds of colleges, universities, secondary, and elementary schools throughout the nation, suspended on-campus learning two months ago in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The suspensions led to the cancellations of all programs and special events for the remainder of the 2020 spring semester and postponement of commencement.
