Art Professor's New Exhibit, Kandy Kote, Opens Friday

  • Published: Jan 31, 2019 11:00AM

Taylor Assistant Professor of Art, Jeremie Riggleman’s exhibit Kandy Kote will be on display in the Metcalf Gallery of the Modelle Metcalf Art Building on the Taylor Campus from February 1 – 21, 2019.

An artist talk will take place Friday, February 1, at 6:00 pm in MMVA 002. Reception to follow in the Gallery.

Jeremie uses lawn art creatures as stand-ins for exploring past, present and future. Influenced by mythology, folk art, pop culture, and faith, their open-ended narratives provide an entry point.

His work is interested in the tension between longing (discontent) and belonging (contentment). “In all the places I’ve lived, I sense myself floating between alienation and assimilation, while balancing the complex polarities both within and without.”

Kandy Kote will exhibit color and shine, including Jeremie’s latest paintings, sculpture, and photography.

The Metcalf Gallery hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday.
