Career Accomplishments

I have spent 27 years working at Taylor University teaching a diverse selection of courses ranging from soil science to plant taxonomy. Worked with numerous undergraduate students and graduate students on summer research projects; the results were presented at local and regional meetings and a variety of journals. Helped develop the Indiana Wetland Rapid Assessment Protocol (InWRAP). I was responsible for the portion of the protocol that addressed the wetland soils. I have taught summer field courses at the Wheaton College Station in the Black Hills for over 20 years.

About

I enjoy teaching at Taylor because I enjoy the subject matter that I teach and the students. At Taylor, it has been very gratifying to see students become more competent in their chosen field and grow spiritually. I feel that my contribution to the Earth and Environmental Science Department has been significant, and students have benefited from my interactions with them.

I enjoy gardening (vegetable and orchard) and working with our families' horses. I also enjoy walking local farm fields in search of Native American artifacts.
