Career Accomplishments

I have nearly 40 years of experience in special education spanning K–12 instruction, district and regional administration, higher education, policy leadership, and educator preparation (1986–present). In my career, I have more than 20 years in educational leadership, serving as a Program Manager, Director of Special Education, Administrator of Special Programs, and Director of a multi-district Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA).

My University faculty experience includes serving as a Visiting Assistant Professor and an Adjunct Professor, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in curriculum, transition services, inclusive education, educational leadership, technology, ethics, and special education at multiple universities.

At the University of Toledo, I was a curriculum developer for graduate-level educator preparation programs, including development of multiple special education licensure courses and graduate curriculum.

I was an executive leader of a regional SELPA, overseeing implementation of IDEA requirements, fiscal management, personnel supervision, state reporting, compliance, professional development, and collaborative partnerships serving multiple school districts.

During my service in public education, I served on national and state professional leadership through long-standing service on executive boards, leadership councils, and statewide committees for organizations including the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), California SELPA Administrators, Coalition for Adequate Funding for IDEA, and numerous statewide special education initiatives.

Beginning early in my career, I have been an extensive presenter and professional developer, delivering dozens of workshops, academies, conference presentations, and administrator trainings on topics including:

I am a licensed educational administrator and special educator holding multiple California and Ohio credentials, including the Administrative Services Credential, the Specialist Instruction Credential in Special Education, the Resource Specialist Certificate, the Autism Authorization, and multiple teaching credentials.

About

During my free time, I enjoy quilting and sewing. I primarily sew and quilt items for donation, including Angel Gowns and quilts for children in need. I am blessed with an amazing husband, four children, and three grandchildren.
